Ma'amoul Rug: Unique Issuance 1/1, Wool, Hand Knotted, Diameter 150cm,

The Robe: Unique Issuance 1/1, Wool and Viscose, Hand Tufted, W 150cm x L 250cm

This art installation originates from a cherished family recipe, a symbol of love, tradition, and memory. Passed down through generations, the recipe for Eid Ma’amoul (Mediterranean Cookie) was a signature of a beloved grandmother, who infused every occasion with warmth through her baking. Her legacy extends beyond the kitchen, embodying deep familial bonds, migration stories, and cultural heritage.

The rug titled The Robe draws inspiration from the grandmother’s striped, colorful dress, a garment imbued with memories of shared moments. The second rug, Ma’amoul, reflects the geometric arrangement of traditional Ma’amoul molds, forming a circular pattern that symbolizes the unbreakable connection of family. These wooden molds, known as Taabeh in Lebanese, have long been used across the Middle East and Mediterranean to craft delicately filled cookies, each imprint carrying the mark of heritage.

The art installation, Eid Memoirs, stands as both a tribute to loss and a testament to hope. Inspired by the carved wooden Ma’amoul molds, glazed in blue and suspended in a seemingly random yet harmonious arrangement, the installation conveys the enduring strength of family relationships. Addressing future generations, it offers a bridge to the past—a reminder of culture, history, and the profound presence of those who came before.
