ECHO OF LOST INNOCENCE
Mixed Media Installation - Sound, Light, Sculpture
Unique Edition1/1
Public Art Installation by Bachir Mohamad | 2023 Location: Katara Cultural Village
Echo of Lost Innocence is a powerful multimedia installation that serves as both memorial and witness to the ongoing humanitarian crisis affecting Palestinian children. This immersive experience combines sculptural elements, soundscapes, and interactive components to create a space for reflection and remembrance.
The central focus of the installation is a collection of suspended child-sized figures, cast in translucent resin, that appear to float within the exhibition space. Each figure represents a young life lost, their forms capturing a moment of suspended animation. Surrounding these figures, a carefully composed soundscape fills the space with recordings of children's laughter, playground sounds, and lullabies, interspersed with moments of unsettling silence.
The installation invites visitors to walk among the suspended forms, triggering motion sensors that illuminate individual figures and activate personal audio narratives. These stories, collected from family members and survivors, give voice to the specific experiences and dreams of children affected by the conflict, transforming statistics into intimate human connections.
Echo of Lost Innocence creates a sacred space that honors the innocent lives lost while challenging viewers to confront the human cost of ongoing conflict. By focusing on the universal experience of childhood and the fundamental right to safety and play, the installation transcends political narratives to speak to our shared humanity and collective responsibility.,
